Peer Support in Aged Care

At Mental Health and Wellbeing Training Solutions, we recognise that older individuals face a multitude of life challenges, spanning from grief and loss to various physical and mental health issues. We firmly believe that every older person deserves access to the connection, support, and enhanced wellbeing that effective and professional peer support can offer.

That's why our Older Person Peer Support Programs are designed to be inclusive and beneficial for all older individuals, not just those experiencing mental health issues. We are committed to creating a supportive environment where older people can connect, share experiences, and receive the support they need to thrive.

Older Person Peer Support Programs

MHW Training Solutions offers a diverse array of Older Person Peer Support Programs, catering to various needs and preferences. From our interactive 'Let's Talk About ...' 5-week Peer Support Group Program to online and face-to-face training sessions tailored for the aged-care sector, we empower organisations to grasp the invaluable benefits of peer work for older individuals.

Additionally, we support  aged care providers to facilitate the development and implementation of an older person peer workforce. These initiatives have the potential to enhance an organisation's range of specialised services and aligns seamlessly with the upcoming 'Support At Home Program', slated to replace existing Home Care Packages, CHSP, Short Term Restorative Care, and Residential Respite referrals starting July 1, 2025.

Our comprehensive range of programs is suitable for all organisations and service providers in the Aged Care Sector, Community Groups, Councils, and other organisations dedicated to supporting the wellbeing of older individuals.  Our training and group program facilitators are 'age appropriate', with a minimum age of 60 years, ensuring a deep understanding of the concerns and needs of older people.
